Pregnancy Symptoms

Most women who are sexually active with men, and even some who aren’t, are likely to wonder at one point in their lives whether or not they are pregnant. Because there are so many symptoms of pregnancy, and because these symptoms mimic so many other potential conditions, it is easy to miss the symptoms when they arise. It is also easy to think you have symptoms of being pregnant when you aren’t actually pregnant. So how can you tell? Read below for some advice on some of the most common early pregnancy symptoms.

Pregnancy Test

Many women who are recently pregnant report some similar pregnancy symptoms. One of them is, obviously, weight gain. You are suddenly eating for two and you may be very hungry. You may put weigh on very quickly around the belly, hips, breasts and thighs. Suddenly your pants and your bras don’t fit and you have red marks on your skin when you get undressed at night. You might feel like a swollen tomato or other piece of fruit. This is normal. Other gastro-intestinal symptoms are also possible. You may have heard of morning sickness. This is when women who are pregnant vomit in the mornings or at other times during the day. But you may feel nauseous or queasy long before you actually start vomiting.

There are other pregnancy symptoms too. One of them is dizziness. It is common for women who are pregnant to suddenly feel very dizzy unexpectedly. This happens because the uterus is being compressed by the newly forming fetus, and thus your blood vessels are suddenly constricted. That can lead to feeling very dizzy and sometimes even outright fainting. Heartburn is another early symptom of pregnancy, for a similar reason. The fetus might rest on the digestive system and cause acid to come up your food pipe.

Of course, the most common of all pregnancy symptoms is missing your period. Anytime you miss a period and are more than a week or two late, you should probably look into a pregnancy test. There are other reasons for missing your period including stress or a poor diet, but that is rare. If you have a good support system or feel up to doing it alone, you can test at home if you think you have missed your period. Otherwise consult your doctor for more information and assistance. You have a long road ahead of you and it is wise to start thinking about all your options as soon as you can.
